Creating Value

April 4, 2013 — Leave a comment

Don’t wake up each morning wondering how you can make more money, instead be thinking how can I create more value. Money will follow the value and not only money but peace, joy and pleasure in what you are doing.

Help people solve their problems and the money will follow therefore focus on how you can help people.

Make a list of ways that you can help alleviate other people’s pain. Think about your skills and passions and than write down the ways you can use your strengths to help other people overcome their weaknesses.

This is a guest blog by Michael Farley of http://www.farleysessentials.com/, a Christian business owner in Southern Oregon.

So what skills are needed to be a successful salesperson? In my experience, I am convinced that techniques and methods of sales are teachable to anyone who has the desire to learn. However, there are a few natural skills that are of great benefit if they already exist within those that want to be successful in sales. Without these, success will take a longer time but it can still be achieved. If there is no desire and dedication to learning or developing these skills, then the selling will be much more difficult and often very stressful.

A very important number in your business is the lifetime value of your customer.

The lifetime value of a customer is how much profit you’ll make from the average customer over the time they will shop with you.

Here is how to figure that out.

What is the average initial purchase they will make with you?

Subtract the expenses and you get the profit from the average customer.

How often do they buy each year?

How long will they stay with you? One year, three years, five years?

Always figure on the low end.
