If you’re going to build your business on the Fear Of God, then there are going to be times of testing.

Others may laugh at or ridicule a decision you make. They’ll tell you, “That doesn’t make sense.”

But if it’s according to Bible Based principles then we need to stand up and say “I’m not ashamed of God and the wisdom of His Word. This decision may cost me financial loss but it’s the right thing to do.”

God will honor you for your Biblical standard and you’ll reap the long term benefits in your business as you trust Him.

God is too complex for us to grasp His complexities yet simple enough for even the little child to understand.

The pride of man leads us to pursue the complex but when we do, we miss some of the most powerful principles of life and business. We tend to think, “If it’s too simple than it can’t be effective”.

Naaman the leper in the Old Testament almost missed his healing because he wanted the prophet to come and do something spectacular in order to be healed. Instead the prophet gave some simple directions. Naaman was angry at the simplicity of the command and was ready to walk away but his servant convinced him to at least give it a try and Naaman was healed.

A very important number in your business is the lifetime value of your customer.

The lifetime value of a customer is how much profit you’ll make from the average customer over the time they will shop with you.

Here is how to figure that out.

What is the average initial purchase they will make with you?

Subtract the expenses and you get the profit from the average customer.

How often do they buy each year?

How long will they stay with you? One year, three years, five years?

Always figure on the low end.

Imagine you want to fix a nice dinner for someone special. You really want to impress them. So you run to the store and start picking up whatever sounds good, from cold cereal to spinach, bacon and cottage cheese, you grab whatever catches your eye.

Then you head home, dump everything on the counter

Our business in business is to serve

Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit . . . but in humility of mind esteem others better than yourself. Philippians 2:3

If you’re consumed and fixated with the goal of making money you’re going to have a hard time making money. A successful business isn’t built by focusing on what you want it is built by focusing on what your customer wants.

Set yourself aside and become consumed with serving. What can you do to bring greater value to the lives and businesses of your customers? How can you
