Facing our Trials

In the business world and in all areas of life we will face various trials, difficulties, and tests.

How do we handle them? How should I respond as a Christian to things falling apart around me?

Peter tells us that “now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials,…”

It is not sin to have strong feelings about your trial, to be distresses or grieved over a situation is not a sign of being weak in faith.

It’s a sign that you’re human with real feelings who has to deal with real situations in a real life world.

Even the apostle Paul spoke of being “burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life.”

Paul didn’t walk around with a cute smile on his face pretending or  hiding his grief.

Reality is reality. You can’t change what has happened by ignoring it or berating yourself because you’re experiencing pain and sorrow.

We should admit and even embrace the feelings connected  with the trial… But not let our feelings dictate our actions or our responses to the trial.

I may feel miserable, discouraged, frustrated, or full of sadness, but I don’t have to line my actions up with my feelings.

If I’m distressed and discouraged I can still reach out to a hurting person and give them hope and strength.

If I’m sad and downcast I can choose to help someone else experience happiness and lift them up.

If I’m despairing of life I can still rise up and impart life to another.

Because I’m kept by the power of God through faith I can choose, by that power He’s already given to me, to walk by faith not feelings.

I choose the right actions because I walk by faith not by sight.

I can impart joy when I feel sad.

I can impart courage when I feel fear.

I can impart hope when I feel hopeless.

I can impart life when I fell dead.

I can impart direction when I feel lost.

I can help others rise up when I feel cast down.

I choose to walk by faith. It’s the power of God that’s at work in me. When I am weak He is strong.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Start to today to put this into practice in both business and your personal life and God will bless you for your walk of faith.
